Parents Meeting

A big part of the Bosco Boys program is reintegration back into normal Kenyan society. Every holiday time at Bosco Boys, which is a month period between a 3 month block of school, the children are sent home to put into use the skills, manners, and habits they have learned at Bosco Boys. Now many of the boys don't have places to go, so they stay here during holidays. Some kids may have a grandmother to go home to, an aunt, somebody. When they go home to this particular person/group of persons, we hope they don't resort back to the lifestyle they lived before coming to Bosco Boys.

When the next school term starts up, Fr. Sebastian asks each student to bring at least one person back with him for a Parents meeting. Here, Fr. Sebastian can tell, show, and explain to them what is being taught to their boy(s) and that the parents can also learn something for the betterment of the child. Now these pictures were taken at the beginning of this school term, but when we borrowed Fr.'s camera he had these pictures so we decided to put some up.

Fr. Sebastian talking to the parents that did attend in the library/tv room... When we think about it, having a library/tv room is kinda funny.

To the far left is Odijo, who is taking notes about the meeting. Mr. Steven (Odijo, which is a shang "slang" word for teacher) has been apart of Bosco Boys since the beginning. He is a social worker and deals individually with each of the kids and their families. He is a wonderful man.

One of the mothers speaking up.

A photo of most of the parents/guardians who came sitting in the DH (dining hall).

Some more of the families.

Achilles (a former Bosco Boy, now teacher/helper at Langata who is waiting to go to college) wears a White Sox jacket and serves lunch.
