Langata building almost finished

If anyone remembers, we put up a blog in February about a "New Building at Langata Primary School". Well the building has been under construction the entire time we've been here and it is almost finished. These are some pictures of the kids at the school, pictures of the construction progress, and life at Langata.

For those who don't remember, or know, but Langata is the school/home where the children first go when they come off the street. The children are interviewed to find out information about their lives, then put into the school at Lanagata (just 5 minutes down the road from Bosco Boys), and if they do well in school and abide by the rules they are then sent to Bosco Boys.

The boys at Langata are so sweet, we especially like our buddy Patrick (front right).

This is Fr. Makarius, the director of the school, in one of the present classrooms.

Fr. Makarius and Simon, the principal, talking outside of the eating/gathering area.

The school at Langata was always known as Dominic Savio School, but when Fr. Makarius took over he changed the name to "Rising Stars". These are the goals of the school.

The dorms.

You can see the progress of the building is doing great.

This is a picture of the modern day Langata School. The tin roofed areas are where the boys eat, sleep, and learn. The nicer home in the back is where some of the teachers live. When the new building is used, these tin roofed buildings will be town down but the one where the teachers live will stay in use.

If you check out another blog which we posted in February, entitled "Hans and Tres Bosch", you can re-read the history of Langata. This new building will add on to the history of the property, buildings, and legacy of this home that houses street boys.

This is the building today. The equipment inside is not fully present yet but seeing this beautiful buildings is hopefully an example of how the children will grow into new and better times of their lives.
